Commonly Requested Documents



Certain sets of documents or information are commonly requested. A number of these sets are identified on the on-line document indices, as set forth more fully below.

Minnesota Document Requests
During the course of document production in the State of Minnesota, et al. v. Philip Morris, Inc., et al. case, counsel for plaintiffs served over 150 requests for the production of documents on the defendants. Copies of these requests for production of documents are available at the Minnesota document depository and on the individual company/organization websites. In addition, the indices available at the Minnesota depository and indices available on the individual company websites provide a reference to one or more of the Minnesota document requests if the document was produced during the course of the State of Minnesota, et al. v. Philip Morris, Inc., et al. case.

Minnesota "Select Set"
During the course of document production in the State of Minnesota, et al. v. Philip Morris, Inc., et al. case, counsel for plaintiffs selected approximately 3% of the documents produced to the Minnesota tobacco document depository for copying. This set is known on the "Minnesota Select Set." Each of the individual company/organization websites provides a field that allows you to locate or identify these documents. The Minnesota Document Depository also maintains records identifying these documents.

Trial Exhibits (Identified by Plaintiffs)
The plaintiffs in the following cases identified as trial exhibits a number of documents produced by the tobacco industry:

(b) In re Mike Moore, Attorney General, ex rel, State of Mississippi Tobacco Litigation, No. 94-1429 (Chancery Ct., Jackson, Miss.)

(c) State of Florida v. American Tobacco Co., et al., No. CL 95-1466 AH (Fla. Cir. Ct., 15th Judicial Cir., Palm Beach Co.)

(d) State of Texas v. American Tobacco Co., et al., No. 5-96CV-91 (E.D. Tex.)

(e) Minnesota v. Philip Morris et al., No. C-94-8565 (Minn. Dist. Ct., County of Ramsey)

(f) Broin v. R.J. Reynolds, No. 91-49738 CA (22) (11th Judicial Ct., Dade County, Florida)
Pursuant to the November 23, 1998, Master Settlement Agreement, the documents produced by Philip Morris USA, Inc., R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation (individually and as successor by merger to The American Tobacco Company), Lorillard Tobacco Company, The Council for Tobacco Research--U.S.A., Inc., and The Tobacco Institute, Inc. that were also identified as trial exhibits by the plaintiffs in the above-listed cases (and that are not subject to claims of privilege or confidentiality protection) are available on the individual company/organization websites. Each website provides information on how to retrieve and view these documents.

In addition, the documents that were admitted into evidence in the Minnesota Attorney General case have been made available by the Minnesota District Court at the Minnesota Tobacco Document Depository, along with a list of the admitted trial exhibits that was prepared by the Minnesota District Court.
